Breaking: Montreal Canadiens fire Claude Julien and Kirk Muller
Marc Bergevin did not take the losses to the Senators very well. In the wake of recent losses and poor play, the Canadiens have fired head coach Claude Julien and his assistant, Kirk Muller.
Canadiens make changes behind the bench
“I would like to sincerely thank Claude and Kirk for their contributions to our team over the past five years during which we worked together,” Marc Bergevin said this morning. “I have great respect for these two men whom I hold in high regard.”
Julien suffered a heart attack last season and missed time behind the bench. Now the Canadiens have fired Julien and Muller. Dominique Ducharme will take his place as the Habs new head man.
“In Dominique Ducharme, we see a very promising coach who will bring new life and new energy to our group,” Bergevin continued. “We feel that our team can achieve high standards and the time had come for a change.”
Claude Julien is the first coach to be fired this season.
