Alexander Ovechkin admits he wants to end his career in Russia with Moscow Dynamo

There were plenty of whispers but now we know. Alex Ovechkin would like to finish his hockey career with Dynamo Moscow in the KHL. The 35 year old Ovechkin will be an unrestricted free agent next summer and will be representing himself in negotiations with the Capitals. Talks are expected to resume soon.

“There are certain goals that I want to achieve after my career,” Ovechkin said in and interview with RTI. “But my career is not over yet and I’m still in my prime. I think I will definitely play for a few more years, God grant that my health is good so I can finish in Russia with Dynamo Moscow.”

For Ovechkin, it isn’t going to be about money in the end. “It’s a matter of principle. I played for only two teams, Dynamo and Washington.” The Caps franchise legend wasn’t clear when his end with the organization will come saying anywhere from two-four, and maybe even five years.

Ultimately, the Caps captain left fans with this; “I want to end on a beautiful note, to play my last match for Dynamo Moscow.”
